About Me

My name is Karlo Rodriguez. I am a second-year student at the University of Washington Bothell, majoring in a Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies with a minor in Information Technology. I volunteered and worked in multiple organizations such as the University of Washington Bothell, Greater Maple Valley Community Center, Kentwood Parent Teacher Student Association, Bag It (Cancer Support), and PeerGuide Tutoring Services. I am knowledgeable in Computer Hardware and technical support for Windows, iOS, and Android. I have over 2-3 years of teaching/instructional experience and I provide friendly customer services and client relations. I deliver excellent communication and strong administrative skills to any work enviornment.

Volunteering Experience

I was a Regular Volunteer at KCLS for about 3 years. I aided towards monitoring and helping children with current programs & events within the library. I also assisted librarians on programs and provided strong communication skills.
I assisted towards helping the community thru voluntary community service. I maintained excellent status of volunteering 3.75 hours each quarter by participating in service events. I participated in Key Club for 2 years.
I assisted in packaging food to distribute to the public. I was able to finish packaging food in a timely manner and understand the policies required on each item for quality standards.
I assisted a non-profit organization on flexible web development on their website. I'm was on-call and ready to modify the website for any updates necessary. I've helped update the website thru a CMS-based system called WordPress.
I created and designed a website for the Kentwood High School Parent Teacher Student Association. I voluntarily designed a website for the PTSA and attended monthly meetings to ensure quality standards and website updates. I was on-call for the non-profit organization and used a CMS-based web development service called Weebly for site hosting and development.
I've volunteered my web development experience to help a bakery shop in the Philippines. I've created a website for their company and updated the website to their needs necessary. I helped contribute to their organization by ensuring that website links and updates are met up to the bakery's standards.

Teaching Experience

I provided tutoring services and lessons to an assigned student set by the non-profit organization, PeerGuide, and help assist thru Basic JavaScript programming education and answer any questions related to the class. Currently using the Code.org App Lab & Game Lab interface and helping provide programming education to kids and teens. I've volunteered over 36 hours, tutoring each student with JavaScript programming.
I've helped tutor students, during class, on dating abuse and spreading awareness on what abuse can occur. A peer education tutor comes in every week to receive training on peer education and explain to students dating abuse while answering questions that students may have. I've worked with the DateWise Peer Education program for the Greater Maple Valley Community Center for Maple Valley, WA.
I created lesson plans, course materials, presentations, and taught JavaScript through Code.org App Lab. This is while also teaching and learning new ways to become a instructor for students grade 7-12. I also coordinated guided curriculum for this course which included programming basics, U.S. Copyright regulations, ethical data skills, and proctored mini-games for students. This course was taught at the Greater Maple Valley Community Center over the summer.
Orientation leaders lead and assist orientation-related programs for first-year students, transfer students, and parent/family orientation. Orientation leaders lead small groups of 10-20 students through campus tours, activities, and ensuring they have an understanding of the university resources and programs available. Led a student network called the LGBTQIA+ New Student Network for many orientations.

Related Educational Coursework

Computer Application – Proficient on Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Created documents with proper citations from respectable sources and able to publish or format other business documents. Refined keyboarding skills on computers for accuracy.


Web Design 1-2 - Knowledgeable in Adobe Dreamweaver and Microsoft Visual Studio Code. I understand the use of HTML5 and CSS and can properly design and create a front-end website for any needs necessary in a timely manner.


3D Modeling & Creative Engineering - Engineering Drawing 1-2 - Using various softwares such as OnShape, SOLIDWORKS, and SketchUp including with A+CAD, I can create a 3D object that can be used for 3D printing capabilities and create products that can either help or bring entertainment use. I've passed the class with a passing grade of A and currently have done 3D Modeling/Engineering for 2 years in a row in high school.


Advanced Placement Computer Science - As an AP Computer Science student, you will learn how to program using the language Java and understand the basics in computer science. You will learn the usage of Eclipse IDE and to prepare before the upcoming AP Computer Science test that will be proctored by CollegeBoard.


Java Computer Programming - Understanding programming concepts within social, cultural, scientific, mathematical, and technological contexts. Understanding programming fundamentals like data types, functions, parameters, computer organization, recursion, stacks, and queues. Researched engineering concepts and social professional issues during the course.


Computers and Society - Explored issues related to the usage of technology in today's society. Viewed areas from intellectual property rights, cybersecurity, privacy, freedom of speech, and ethics.


Education and Equity in the United States - Researched historic and struggles over issues of equity in the United States education system. Identified strategies and evaluated positions that are being used for equity in U.S. education.


Teaching and Learning in a Multicultural Society - Explored critical elements in a multicultural society and ways on how race and ethnicity combine with class, gender, sexual orientation, language, disability, and citizenship. Examined social, cultural, political, and economic issues impacting communities and how systems of power and privilege influence students' education.
